General Information:

The Turfgrass Field Laboratory is the site of numerous research projects on cool-season grasses (Tall Fescue, Creeping Bentgrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, and Perennial Ryegrass), and warm-season grasses (Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede, and St. Augustine).

National cultivar testing and evaluation take place at this Field Laboratory. In addition, fertility studies, herbicide and plant growth regulator tests, fungicide testing on various diseases, water use and irrigation requirements, rolling tests, fan studies, overseeding and soil aeration tests are conducted.

Join us for the Annual NC Turf Field day held each year in August. This field day showcases current turfgrass research projects. Professionals in the turf and landscape industry will be able to tour demonstration plots, visit with vendors and enjoy a delicious lunch. Participants can receive pesticide recertification credits. Sponsors for this field day include the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service, the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, and the Turfgrass Council of North Carolina. Pre-registration is recommended. Please call the Turfgrass Counsel of North Carolina in Southern Pines at 910/695-1333 for more information.
