Dr. Bruneau received his B.S. and M. S. degrees in Agronomy from the University of Rhode Island. He received his Ph.D. in Horticulture from the University of Nebraska. Prior to being appointed Turfgrass Extension Specialist at NCSU, Dr. Bruneau was employed by the O.M. Scott & Sons Co. in Marysville, Ohio. Dr. Bruneau currently has a teaching appointment. Dr. Bruneau currently teaches a turfgrass management course offered in the Professional Golf Management program. He has taught most of the turfgrass courses in the Agricultural Institute. In addition, he is the author and developer of many turfgrass extension publications such as the Turfgrass Pest Management Manual.
TEACHING
PGM 311 TURFGRASS MANAGEMENT This course acquaints future golf professionals with the principles of golf course turf management. Emphasis is placed on the role of the golf course superintendent and the need to work with the superintendent in producing an effective and efficient golf course while protecting our natural resources.
EXTENSION/OUTREACH
SHORT COURSE
Dr. Bruneau developed and coordinated the week-long North Carolina Turfgrass Short Course held in Raleigh each spring. It is designed to provide basic information to new professional turfgrass managers. Experienced managers have also found it useful as both a review and a means of gaining updated information.
CONFERENCES & FIELD DAYS
Dr. Bruneau developed, coordinated, and participated in numerous turfgrass conferences, field days and workshops presented annually across the state. These venues are designed to present environmentally friendly, research-based information that turfgrass managers can put to use.
PUBLICATIONS
Coordinated and initiated many of the numerous turf publications used by the turfgrass industry. Some of these include the Turfgrass Pest Management Manual, Organic Lawn Care, Pest Control Recommendations for Turfgrass Managers, Carolina Lawns and the various lawn calendars and water quality publications.
