crabgrass germination

Large and smooth crabgrass germinate when soil temperatures average about 53-55 degrees over a 24 hour period. As an update, we have seen crabgrass up and growing in the southeastern part of NC. I would suspect to see it further inland over the weekend or early next week. To find early germination, look in areas where there is no turf (bareground) and south facing slopes.
