Has unique pentagon and hexagon shaped formations that may be visible to the naked eye. Individual connections of five or six cells form these fishnet patterns. These nets readily break apart when removed from water. An entire colony of water net can measure 6 to 8 in. in length, and 1 to 2 in. in width. Colonies can be associated and entangled with other aquatic plant species.
