Common in clear, permanent waters. It prospers in open waters and has a tendency to form large colonies.
Un-notched; float on the water surface. Broadly oval (rounded at both ends), and 2 to 4 in. diameter. Petiole is attached to the center of the underside of the leaf.
Small, dull, reddish. Rise above the water surface during bloom.
