We are looking for hardworking turf students who want to join our staff. For the right individuals there are great opportunities for advancement at Oak Hill. While at Oak Hill, employees will participate in all facets of golf course maintenance required to maintain two championship golf courses at the highest level. In addition to standard maintenance, cultivation practices, and tournament preparation. Oak Hill is continuously working with golf course architects on improving the East and West courses. A major restoration project will begin in August of 2019 on the East course. The grounds staff at Oak Hill Country Club will be greatly involved in all projects.
Job Title: Assistant-In-Training
Educational Requirements: 2 or 4 year degree or certificate in turf management or related field
Experience Requirements: Individuals must have 1-2 years of golf course maintenance experience. Seeking an individual that has experience in hand watering, chemical and fertilizer applications and calibration.
Special Requirements: This individual must be self-motivated, dependable, and dedicated to working long hours as well as weekends and holidays. Candidates must be able to work in a fast pace atmosphere and show a strong sense of urgency, additionally a strong desire to learn is a plus. Must have a positive attitude and work as a team player within the staff. Be able to obtain a NY state pesticide license.
Comments: Located in Rochester NY, Oak Hill is the home of two championship golf courses and has been the host of 11 major championships on its famed East course. The East course is currently ranked #20 in the country by Golf Digest and hosted the 95th PGA Championship in August of 2013. Oak Hill Country Club was also named the host of the 2019 Senior PGA and 2023 PGA Championships. . In 2019, the East course will undergo an extensive renovation project that will include complete rebuilding of greens and bunkers as well as various other course improvement projects. Working at Oak Hill CC will provide the right individual an ample amount of opportunity to learn the necessary skill set to be highly successful in their career. Responsible for assisting the superintendent on all maintenance practices on the golf course and practice facilities. Responsibilities include training of new employees, equipment operation, supervisory functions and chemical application and management while maintaining club standards. Work closely with supervisors and employees to maintain a positive work environment including communication, training, discipline and evaluations. Performs other course related duties as needed.
Associate's Degree in turf grass management/golf course management, related field or equivalent experience. MUST have the ability to obtain a North Carolina Pesticide License within 6 months of hire date.
Experience with warm season turf grass management is a must. Must have an outstanding eye for detail. Must be detail oriented. Must be highly motivated to learn and teach. Must have a positive attitude, professional manner and appearance.
Salary $28,000-$30,000 per year plus $320 per month health insurance stipend.
The Tillery Tradition Country Club is located in Mt. Gilead, NC on Lake Tillery. Opened in 2000, it is an 18 hole semi-private course. We have just recently converted our old bentgrass greens to MiniVerde bermudagrass and are set to re-open September 8th. Essential functions of this position:
The position is responsible for the technical, maintenance and overall landscape of the turf grass program (natural and artificial) management for the Athletics Department. This includes fields and surrounding grounds for all of the following: Brooks Field, UNCW Baseball Practice Field, Boseman Field, UNCW Soccer Stadium, UNCW Soccer Practice Field, Harold Greene Track Complex and the natural common areas within the athletics complex. This position directly supervises student employees and also serves as primary point of contact when the Director of Grounds & Sports Turf is absent or position is vacant.
Game management duties for UNCW Baseball and Softball may include (but not limited to): field lining, field maintenance, field repair, irrigation management, weather management, and waste management. This position may also assist the designated game manager in event management functions, facility management and crowd control.
