2020 Golf Course Maintenance Internship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC
Founded in 1960, Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte was originally designed by George Cobb as an exclusive18 hole private club. The club has positioned itself as one of the top tournament courses in the nation having hosted professional golf for over 31 years. No stranger to renovations, the club’s leadership is always looking for ways to improve the course. In 2017 Tom Fazio’s initial master plan was completed, which aided in making the 99th PGA Championship a huge success. In the summer of 2019 a full practice area renovation including a driving range and short game area was completed. Professional golf will continue to have a home at Quail Hollow Club with the Wells Fargo Championship through 2024 and the President’s Cup in 2021.
Internship Program Description
An extensive and well-rounded internship programs that includes all aspects of golf course maintenance and championship preparation. Students will be given leadership opportunities to see the full extent of maintaining a course at championship level and will receive hands on training on irrigation, SubAir, budgeting, calibrations, chemical/fertilizer applications, construction techniques and equipment maintenance.
Educational and Experience Requirements
Recent Graduate or an individual currently enrolled in a Turfgrass, Horticulture, or industry supported college curriculum.
Wages starting at $12.00 an hour. Housing, employee golf privileges, uniforms, and daily lunch are provided. It is the goal for each intern to experience a second tournament as a volunteer. Past interns have worked at the US Open, PGA Championship, John Deere Classic, Wyndham Championship, President’s Cup, Northern Trust, The National, and The Tour Championship.
