Assistant Golf Course Superintendent – Westhampton Course at the Country Club of Virginia in Richmond, VA
The Country Club of Virginia is a full-service private club located in Richmond, Virginia. CCV is recognized as one of the top clubs in America as a result of its remarkable membership, world-class facilities, and exceptional staff. The club’s 7,600+ members support 1,111 acres containing two clubhouses situated seven miles apart, 54 holes of golf, racquet sports, fitness, aquatics, and multiple dining outlets and special event venues. In season, CCV employs a staff of over 600 and has an operating budget in excess of $30 million. CCV serves as the host site of the PGA TOUR Champions Dominion Energy Charity Classic golf tournament.
The Position CCV is looking for a talented Assistant Superintendent for its Westhampton Golf Course. Ideal candidates will have strong leadership skills, a college degree concentrating in turfgrass management, and a minimum of two years’ experience, preferably in the transition zone. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Current pesticide applicator’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days required. Ability to speak Spanish a plus. The Westhampton Course is a classic Donald Ross design and consists of A1/A4 bentgrass greens and bermudagrass tees, fairways, and rough. Westhampton is currently working to be a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary course, and the assistant will be an integral part of the process.
The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with Director of Golf and Grounds Maintenance, Course Superintendent, and other managers to ensure member expectations are met daily, and will be expected to contribute to planning, executing projects, budgeting, implementing cultural practices, moisture management, and pesticide applications. Compensation: Base salary of $47,000-50,000, commensurate with experience; benefits include medical/dental/vision insurance, fully paid life/long-term disability, 401k with employer contribution and match, golf shirts/pants, meals, golfing privileges, professional dues, and continuing education opportunities.
