It's happening! We caught our first fall armyworm moths (Edgecombe, Lee and Wake counties) and Japanese beetle adults (Wake Co.) of the season in traps this week.
Early Activity for Fall Armyworms and Japanese Beetles
(Updated: May 13, 2023, 6:12 a.m.)
First of all, don't panic. Compared to 2022, we are about three weeks early for FAWs and two weeks ahead for JBs. Although it is a little early for these two turf insects, it is not an indication of how bad pest pressure will be for either this season. We just may need to adjust our application timing based on adult trapping counts the next few weeks. We will keep you posted!
