Advancing Knowledge Through Turfgrass Center Research – Milla-Lewis

— Written By

Tall fescue growers in NC probably never worried about winterkill, but what about those that manage warm-season grasses? Crop and Soil Science faculty Dr. Susana Milla-Lewis is developing a genetic linkage map to find markers that are associated with cold tolerance. This and other techniques allow reliable measure of freeze tolerance so that many potential new zoysiagrasses can be quickly screened before planting in the field.
