Advancing Knowledge Through Turfgrass Center Research – Rufty

— Written By

There is a continued need to improve water use by turfgrasses. Dr. Tom Rufty is working to identify and overcome physiological and physical hurdles in turfgrass water use efficiency. His primary focus is evaluating portable water sensors and examining soil water loss rates by bentgrass under different physical and chemical treatments. To date, the research suggests that a plant health chemical can increase water use efficiency by enhancing stomata closure at high vapor pressure deficits. For more information contact: Tom Rufty (tom_rufty@ncsu.edu).
